Alecia Barbour, Ph.D.

Dr. Barbour's research on convergences of music, memory, and constructions of belonging has taken her from the Ellis Island National Museum of Immigration in New York to the Huntington Library, Art Collections, and Botanical Gardens in California. She is currently working on a project focused on "listening for loyalty" in U.S. sites of Japanese American incarceration and Enemy Alien internment during WWII. Courses she teaches at WVU Tech include Music in World Cultures, American Popular Music, Introduction to Music, and Introduction to the History of Jazz.
