Garrett Goosman is entering his eleventh year working at WVU Tech, tenth year as head golf coach and fifth year as Assistant Athletic Director of Game Day Operations.

His duties as Assistant Athletic Director of Game Day Operations are to assist the Athletic Director (Kenny Howell) with day-to-day operations of an athletic department along with student athlete compliance, NAIA eligibility, athletic scholarships, budgets, fundraising and arrange team travel for practices and game days.

With Goosman at the helm, Tech golf had its best finish was in 2018 where they ended up in 3rd place at the River State Conference Spring Championship.  In 2022 at the RSC Spring Championship the Golden Bears finished in 4th place and improved four spots the final round and in 2016 at the RSC Fall Preview with a 2nd place finish (after losing in a playoff to Point Park University) for the River States Conference (RSC) Fall Preview since joining the RSC in 2015. They also finished in 2nd place the year before in the Fall Preview at Cherry Blossom Country Club in Georgetown, KY.

Tech has also won tournaments at Ohio Valley University (2015), Shawnee State University (2017), Bluefield State College (2017), and Kentucky Christian University (2018), Bob Jones University (2019) as well as garnering two top-ten finishes at the USCAA National Tournament (2014 and 2015) before becoming members of the Kentucky Intercollege Athletic Conference (KIAC, now known as the River States Conference). The team also won the Golden Bear Classic (their home tournament) in 2018 and 2022 at Glade Springs.
 
Other accomplishments achieved under Goosman as the golf coach include the team being named a NAIA Scholar Team (2015, 2022), produced numbers RSC Men’s Golfer of the Week,  had several Golden Bear Athletes of the week, an increase in recruiting classes, various golfers be named All-Americans and to the All-Academic teams,  a RSC Newcomer of the Year (Matt Ryan), numerous athletes named to the RSC all-conference and all-tournament teams, several golfers named to the NAIA Scholar-Team and has maintained a team GPA above 2.75+ every year.  They’ve been able to maintain one of the highest team GPA’s on the Tech campus multiple years out of the 17 varsity teams.

Previous positions that he has held while at Tech have been Athletics Coordinator, Project Coordinator for Athletics, Intramural Coordinator, Operations Coordinator of the Student Union (Tech Center in Montgomery), Assistant Softball Coach (under Coach Gadberry) and assisting the wrestling team on and off the mat with Coach Gardner.

Goosman graduated from WVU Tech with a Bachelor of Science degree in Athletic Coaching Education (Physical Education) and a minor in Psychology in 2011. Goosman is a member of the United States Golf Association (USGA). He also served as the Men's Golf Chair for the conference from 2018-2021 and is currently the Men’s Rater for the conference since 2020.  He was also named the Thomas Harkleroad - River States Conference Coach of Year in 2018.  He also serves as an advisor for the Christian Student Union on the Tech campus.  Goosman serves as an active church member at the Southeast Church of the Nazarene in Charleston, WV. 

The golf team was awarded the Outstanding Service Award in 2019 by Student Government and Goosman was given the Outstand Golden bear Award based on their community service and being active on campus.  In the Spring 2022, he was selected to join The Golden Bear Alumni Association (TGBAA).  Has helped with golf outings and other Tech alumni events to help with fundraising outreach for the university.  Goosman has also volunteered to work at West Virginia Special Olympics, The Greenbrier Classic and NCAA D-II National Championship. 

Native to West Virginia, Goosman grew up in Gauley Bridge, only a short distance from Tech's Montgomery campus. His parents Chuck (Tech Hall of Fame Quarterback, 1962) and Sherry still reside in Gauley Bridge.

Goosman currently resides in Nitro, West Virginia with his wife Ashley (13’), a WVU Tech alumna and their dog, Rory.
