Kenneth Howell
Kenny Howell is beginning his 18th year in the athletic department at WVU Tech. Howell has been the full-time WVU Tech Director of Athletics since 2013, after serving roles on the campus as Head Golf Coach, Assistant Athletic Director, and Director of Compliance.
A graduate of Salem International University, Howell was a four-year letter winner on the Salem International University golf team. He was recognized in 2002 as the West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference/BB&T Senior Scholar Athlete.
Howell returned to Salem International after serving as a PGA Golf Professional Apprentice at Pipestem Resort State Park under Bill Robertson for nearly six years. While at his alma mater, he served as the head Men’s and Women’s Golf Coach, Sports Information Director, an Admissions Counselor, and Director of Athletic Communications.
He is currently Treasurer of The YMCA of Southern West Virginia, and board member of the Beckley-Raleigh County Convention Center. Howell also serves as Vice Chair of the River States Conference Administrative Council, Conference Golf Liaison, and serves on the River States Conference Conduct Committee.
Since being named Director, WVU Tech teams have been recognized for setting all-time records for single season wins, national tournament appearances, and all-conference selections. WVU Tech teams led the league last season with five first place finishes, and came in second overall in the River States Conference Commissioner’s Cup. Howell was named 2020 River States Conference Athletic Director of the Year.
A native of Southern West Virginia, Kenny currently lives with his fiancé, Petra, and their children Abigail, Eliza, and Kensley.
