Contractors Association of West Virginia Coming to WVU Tech

Beckley W.Va. – The Contractors Association of West Virginia (CAWV) will hold its quarterly Board of Directors meeting on the campus of WVU Tech Wednesday, October 9, 2024.

CAWV is the only full-service organization dedicated to meeting the needs of the construction industry in the Mountain State. CAWV represents over 500 businesses in building, highway, municipal utility and industrial contracting, as well as businesses providing services, supplies and products to the construction industry.

The association is one of the most respected trade organizations in the state and has been a traditional leader of the business community in advancing legislative and public policy issues since 1923. With its dedicated staff, CAWV is able to accommodate and focus attention to each members' specific needs through the four membership divisions that have been designed to help serve the members better. They include, Highway/Heavy Contractors, Building Contractors, Utility Contractors and Associate Members. Within each division, among other committees, the association has joint committees with state and federal contracting agencies that have an impact on funding, rules, regulations, and policy issues affecting the industry.

Officials from WVU Tech, the CAWV, and local school districts will be in attendance.

CAWV Members of CAWV will also tour construction management and engineering laboratories, meet faculty and students, and learn more about the importance of educating the next generation of construction experts in the mountain state. Some of WVU Tech’s K-12 partners through the Southern 13 initiative will join the CAWV to learn more about the opportunities for careers in construction trades and at the professional level.

As new construction projects take shape across the state, providing the expertise necessary to meet growing demand for new architecture is critical. WVU Tech is the only school in the state of West Virginia offering a Bachelor of Science in Construction Management.

The tour of WVU Tech's facilities will take place from 11 am – 11:45 am.
