By opting in to receive text messages from WVU Tech regarding The Virginias Symposium, you agree to the following terms:

Service Description
Text messaging is used exclusively to provide real-time event updates and logistical information related to The Virginias Symposium. No marketing messages will be sent. -
Opt-In Process
To receive updates, participants must voluntarily opt in by texting a designated keyword to the event messaging number. This action indicates your agreement to receive messages. -
Message Frequency
Messages will be sent only as needed for timely event communication. We anticipate low message volume, primarily during the event days. -
Opt-Out Instructions
You can opt out at any time by replying STOP to any message. After opting out, you will no longer receive texts from us. -
Message & Data Rates
Standard message and data rates may apply based on your mobile carrier plan. WVU Tech and the event organizers are not responsible for any charges incurred. -
No Warranty
Text messaging services are provided “as is.” While we strive to send accurate and timely updates, WVU Tech is not liable for message delays or delivery failures. -
TCPA Compliance
This messaging service complies with the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA). All participants opt in voluntarily and may opt out at any time. -

Privacy Policy for Text Messaging

This privacy policy applies solely to the text messaging service used for The Virginias Symposium, hosted by WVU Tech and organized by the WVU Tech ASCE student chapter.
What Information We Collect
When you opt in to receive event-related text messages by texting a keyword to our messaging number, we only collect your mobile phone number. No other personal information is collected.
How We Use Your Information
Your phone number is used exclusively to send important event-related information, such as:
- Schedule changes
- Weather notices
- Venue updates
- Lunch information or other event logistics
We do not use your phone number for marketing purposes.
Data Sharing
We do not share, sell, or transfer your phone number or any personal data to any third parties. The messaging platform (Textedly) is used strictly to deliver event information and operates under its own privacy and security protocols.
Data Storage
We do not store your personal data beyond what is temporarily needed to deliver messages during the event.
Opting Out
You can unsubscribe from event messages at any time by replying STOP to any text message. Once you unsubscribe, you will no longer receive updates.
